Posted On October 19, 2016

Premier Daniel Andrews today joined local Member Maree Edwards at Castlemaine Secondary College to unveil the innovative new engineers’ precinct.

The engineers ‘precinct was built as part of ongoing works to rebuild the school.

The precinct boasts state-of-the-art spaces for budding engineers, physicists and chemists whilst also having an automotive studies workshop.

Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards spoke of the new facility.

Every member of the Castlemaine Secondary School community should be very proud of what they have achieved with the new hi-tech engineering precinct. These facilities will inspire students to reach their full potential.”

“The Labor Government will continue to stand up for education in Castlemaine and Bendigo, as we work hard each and every day to ensure local families have access to a great local school,” the Member said.

The engineering facility is the first part of a school revamp, with the next stage upgrading the performing arts precinct and administration block.

So far as part of the 2016/17  Victorian Budget more than $151 million has been spent on upgrading and rebuilding 39 regional schools, including fixing every regional secondary school classified as being in the worst condition. Up to six other projects for regional schools are currently being planned.

The works have currently created 4000 construction jobs.

Premier Daniel Andrews reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to making sure every student has the best possible education facilities they can.

“Whether it’s building new schools from ground up or fixing tired existing schools, we’re putting Victorian families first as we give our students access to the world class facilities they deserve.”

“With the new engineering precinct officially open and further upgrades on the way, we’re giving Castlemaine students the facilities they need to achieve their best and have access to every opportunity in life.”
